Internacia

Since its invention by L.L. Zamenhof in 1887, the international auxiliary language Esperanto quickly gained popularity throughout Europe, followed by widespread adoption across Asia. Throughout the 20th century, transnational networks employed Esperanto for a variety of purposes, forging significant connections among diverse collectives with different political and social backgrounds.

This conference delves into the rich history of Esperanto's influence in Asia, emphasizing its linguistic, cultural, social, and technological impacts during the 20th century. By examining diverse historical experiences and social and political practices, the conference aims to expand the study of Esperanto and broaden our comprehension of its interdisciplinary aspects. This will contribute to the ongoing discourse surrounding Esperanto's impact in Asia and historical exchanges between Esperantists from Europe, the Americas, the Soviet Union, and Asia.

Spanning over two days, this conference brings together an international group of scholars to investigate new theoretical and historical avenues for research and exploration.
